Gobo lighting effects set the mood at Third Eye Blind concert

Though they may have fallen out of the spotlight in recent years, alternative rock group Third Eye Blind recently began a festival tour across North America, accompanied by a mood-setting light show. Designed by a Denver-based expert, Mitchell Schellenger, the light show was created to mimic natural lighting, specifically a sunset.

"The band doesn't always have a headline slot, and when that happens they don't have the luxury of performing in complete darkness," said Schellenger, according to Studio Live Design.  "So we decided to mimic the look of sunset with warm pretty light on stage.  To do that we needed really bright fixtures."

Schellenger explained that he needed moveable lights to quickly switch up the mood and focus for different songs, as well as a show opener and closer sequence designed to impress the audience.

Using gobo lights, any musician or band can attain a higher level of visual entertainment by accompanying their tunes with a light show. From unique uses of color to a custom gobo design that includes the band's logo, the right lighting will make a huge difference in the crowd's mood and appreciation. Schellenger noted that he has received feedback on social media, with fans responding very positively to the lighting for the Third Eye Blind shows.
